Formal and festive
Getting there
The 6 local to 68th Street (5 minute walk), the F or Q to 63rd (10 minutes), or the 4/5 express to 59th (15 minutes). And of course, cabs and Ubers can pull right up to the door.
*Dinner
The party starts at 8pm and we’re not serving dinner, so please eat beforehand — but come on time! There’ll be drinks, plenty of snacks, and dessert, but no proper sit-down meal. A few restaurants in the neighborhood we like:
Orsay — classic old-school French brasserie, 75th + Lex
Isle of Capri — Italian place that’s been around since the ‘50s, Tom Wolfe’s go-to spot, 61st + 3rd
JG Melon — impeccable vibes, good-enough burgers (cash only), 74th + 3rd
Elio’s — ’80s Italian people-watching spot, 84th + 2nd
NR — Japanese pub food, 75th + 1st
Antonucci Cafe — another cozy Italian spot, 81st + 3rd
Mission Ceviche — casual Peruvian seafood, 72nd + 2nd
Toloache — Mexican, a fav of Lucy’s parents, 82nd + 3rd
Quatorze — and another solid French bistro with great service, 82nd + 1st
Ceremony?
We’re getting married at City Hall earlier in the week! There won’t be any formal ceremony at the party. Maybe a quick toast or two.
After the main event
There will be an after party at a TBD bar. Stay tuned. We’ll share it here when we’ve decided on the spot.
Accommodations
We know it’s an unusually expensive weekend to stay in New York (why, we couldn’t tell you) — so if you can’t swing a trip, we completely understand. There’s no hotel block, but here are a few spots we recommend around the city.
The Ace — Nomad or Downtown Brooklyn
The Roxy — Tribeca
The Allen Hotel — LES
Boro Hotel — Long Island City
The Beekman — Financial District
The Smyth — Tribeca
The Penny — Williamsburg
There are a few nice Airbnbs, too.
